Menus and toolbars

Menus

In AskiaDesign, the following menus are available:

Toolbars

Two toolbars are available in AskiaDesign:

Standard toolbar

You can show or hide the standard toolbar by selecting standard from the view menu. The controls in the standard toolbar vary depending on the mode you are working in, as indicated in the "Modes" column below:

Create a new questionnaire.

Open Open

All

Open a questionnaire.

Save Save

All

Save the current questionnaire.

undo_button Undo

All

Reverse an you carried out. You can repeat the undo command to reverse multiple successive actions.

redo_button Redo

All

Reverse the last undo action you carried out. You can repeat the undo command to reverse multiple successive undo actions.

cut Cut

Question, Routing

Remove the selected element and place it on the clipboard.

COPY Copy

Question, Routing

Copy the selected element to the clipboard (without removing it).

paste Paste

Question, Routing

Paste an element from the clipboard.

Languages

Question, Routing

Allows you to add a language to your survey, or choose the default language.

Align left

Screens

This command is available when you have selected two or more screen elements at the same time. It aligns the selected elements to the most recently selected element's left-hand edge.

 Align top

Screens

This command is available when you have selected two or more screen elements at the same time. It aligns the selected elements to the most recently selected element's top edge.

 Make same width

Screens

This command is available when you have selected two or more screen elements at the same time. It applies the width of the most recently selected element to all other elements.

 Make same height

Screens

This command is available when you have selected two or more screen elements at the same time. It applies the height of the most recently selected element to all other elements.

 Space across

Screens

This command is available when you have selected three or more screen elements at the same time. It evenly spaces the selected elements horizontally, based on the position of the element on the left and the element on the right.

 Space down

Screens

This command is available when you have selected three or more screen elements at the same time. It evenly spaces the selected elements vertically, based on the position of the element at the top and the element at the bottom.

 Library Management

All

Allows you to authorize the use of a local library and/or the global library (network library) and transfer question(s) between them.

Library

Question, Routing

Displays the contents of the library, allowing you to insert a variable from the library into your questionnaire.

 Test the questionnaire

All

Allows you to test an AskiaVoice or AskiaFace questionnaire.

Properties

Screens

Opens the properties sheet for the selected element or elements.

Show a view of the screen as it would be during data entry

Screens

Opens askiavoice/askiaface's preview of the current screen.

 Internet Explorer preview

Screens

Opens an AskiaWeb preview of the questionnaire, i.e. as it would appear in Internet Explorer.

 Question mode

All

Switches to question mode, where you can to create and sequence your survey's questions, chapters and loops.

Routing mode

All

Switches to routing mode, where you can define the survey's routing instructions.

 Screen mode

All

Switches to screen mode, where you can design the layout of the survey's interviewing screens.

View the number and release date of the askiadesign version you are using.

 

 

Formatting toolbar

The formatting toolbar is available in question mode and screen mode, and it allows you to change formatting of specific text (e.g. the font size or emphasis):

It contains the following controls:

Button name Description

formatting_font Font

Determines the font that will be used to display the selected text.

formatting_font_size Font size

Determines the font size that will be used for the selected text.

formatting_bold Bold

Determines whether the selected text will be displayed in bold.

formatting_italic Italic

Determines whether the selected text will be displayed in italics.

formatting_underline Underline

Determines whether the selected text will be underlined.

formatting_text_color Text color

Determines the color of the selected text.

formatting_background_color Text background color

Determines the background color of the selected text.
