Introduction to multimedia resources

Multimedia resources can be added and used in support of a questionnaire's layout or content, regardless of the interviewing modes for which it is designed. Nevertheless, due to the inherent technological differences specific to field types, you need to keep in mind the planned interviewing mode(s) when you insert multimedia resources into your questionnaires.

For more detail on inserting and managing multimedia resources, see the links below.

Note: When using multimedia resources in askiavoice or askiaface you need to be sure that any applications necessary to "play" them are available (i.e. installed), on the interviewer's computer or hand-held device. For example, if you want to play a movie clip, you need to ensure that the Interviewer's computer or device has the facility to play movie clips in the selected format.
Note: The resources tab shows all the multimedia resources (images, sounds and animations) available in the survey. You can give a numerical code to each resource and then refer to the resource by using this code in the dynamic code property (multimedia tab in a cell's properties). To assign a code to a resource, open the resources tab, select the resource, then right-click, select edit, and enter the code in resource ID (use find new to automatically assign the next unused number to the resource).
