Conditions by Script

The conditions by script feature enables you to define sophisticated routing instructions. You can set up:

• Simple conditions outside of the simple script builder interface;

• Simple conditions based on a variable other than the Start variable;

• Conditions using AskiaScript functions;

• Conditions based on more than one variable.

Creating a condition by script

To create a condition by script:

1. When editing your routing instruction, click .
2. Click to open the condition dialog, where you define the condition. The interface to define the condition appears as follows:
   
3. Use the condition dialog as described below.

• In the top panel, type your script. Askiascript keywords are colour-coded to aid comprehension of the script.
• In the left-hand panel at the bottom, you can obtain help about AskiaScript keywords; to do so, simply click the keywords you want to know about. You can quickly find a keyword in the list by typing it in the search keywords... box.
• In the right-hand panel, you can select responses in the current question in order to add them to your condition. You can search the response list for a specific response by entering the response text in the search responses... box.
• Runtime debug: Select this option to automatically start and show the debug mode when you test the questionnaire. This will happen in all test modes (fast, screen or web). Note: when you close the questionnaire and reopen it, this option is always cleared.

• Compile: Click this button to validate your condition's syntax. Note: In no way does this validation imply that askiadesign has verified the condition's logic (i.e. whether or not your script will have the intended effect); it merely tests whether your condition adheres to the syntactic rules of the askiascript language.
