Paste structure

By using the paste structure command, you can impose the structure of a question you have copied to the clipboard (by using the copy command) onto the selected question. This is particularly useful when you often use similar questions, as you can prepare template questions in the library which can then be pasted into your questionnaire.

For example, suppose you create questions with the following shortcuts in your library:

You can paste these onto an existing question to get the appropriate sub-questions. For example, if you copied %s%a, then selected q1 in your questionnaire, and selected paste structure, q1a would be created beneath q1; q1a would be based on the setting you chose for %s%a.

When defining the library questions, you can refer to questions further down in the questionnaire running order: %2.s% refers to the second question after the selected one, %3.s% refers to the third question, etc. (%1.s% is equivalent to %s%). For example, if you selected copied %2.s%, then selected q1 and used the paste structure command, q2a would be created (assuming that q2 was the question beneath q1).
You can also refer to questions that MUST be in the survey: for this you precede the shortcut by -.
