The following properties are available to numeric variables:
- Allow 'Don’t Know': If selected, respondents will be allowed to continue past the question without giving a response to it. If this option is selected and the respondent continues without giving a response, a value of -99.999999 will be stored in the data. Note that you can set this option for multiple questions at once by selecting the questions in the questionnaire list (in the left-hand pane), then right-clicking and selecting
set questions, then allow don't know in the context menu.
- Visible during data-entry: If selected, respondents will see the question during interviewing. In other words, a screen will be generated for this question. Note that you can set this option for multiple questions at once by selecting the questions in the questionnaire list (in the left-hand pane), then right-clicking and selecting
set questions, then visible in the context menu.
- Visible in Analyse: If selected, the question and any sub-variables will be visible for analysis in both AskiaAnalyse and AskiaVista. If this option is not selected, the variable and its sub-variables will not appear in AskiaAnalyse and in AskiaVista. Note: you can change this property even after a questionnaire's fieldwork is completed. You can set this option for multiple questions at once by selecting the questions in the questionnaire list (in the left-hand pane), then right-clicking and selecting
set questions, then visible in analyse in the context menu.
- Anonymise the data: If you select this option, then sensitive survey data can be hidden in AskiaField Supervisor. See the topic Data Anonymisation (in the AskiaField Assistant) for details.
- Minimal value: Specifies a minimum value for this question. When answering this question, respondents will only be able to specify the minimum value or greater.
- Maximal value: Specifies a maximum value for this question. When answering this question, respondents will only be able to specify the maximum value or lower.
- Nr of decimal places: Specifies the maximum number of decimal digits which the respondent will be able to give. During data-entry, Askia will ensure that answers given by respondents respect the specified number of decimal places.
- 'Non response' entry code: Defines a number that the respondent can enter as a "Don't Know" response. Note that this number will not be stored in the data; the data will contain the standard value of -99.999999.
- Import: allows you to import sample list information or other information from a database or panel. See importation on numeric questions for information on this option.
