Merge screens

Use this feature to merge two or more screens into one screen, thereby displaying more than one of your questionnaire's variables on the same screen. In other words, the new screen resulting from the merge will contain all of the merged screens' cells.

To merge two or more screens, select the screens you wish to merge in the screens' index tab. In the screens menu, select merge. Or right click in the screens' index tab to access the merge function.

Note: if you have several elements on a screen, you can use an HTML table to neatly align them. For details, see the Knowledge Base article HTML table around screen elements.

The routing on one question can affect the other questions on the screen. For example, if the response to one question requires that another question on the same screen be hidden, then this will be handled immediately (the second question will be hidden as soon as the first question is answered). The following routing actions can be calculated dynamically in this way: do not ask, make question invisible, set values and set values and hide.

Note: from version 5.4, screens by default have the same names as the shortcuts of the questions they contain. If you subsequently merge two or more screens, the new screen name will consist of the shortcuts of all questions on the new merged screen, separated by commas (e.g. if you merge two screens with the questions named awareness and favourite, the new screen will be called awareness, favourite). If you have renamed a screen and subsequently want to revert to the default naming, simply enter a blank string as the name, and the name will be reverted to the default.

Split screens

Use this option to split one or more variables' cells from a merged screen into separate screens. That is, you can take variable(s) out of a merged screen. AskiaDesign will create a new screen containing the cells of the split variable(s).

To do so, open the merged screen and select the cells corresponding to the variable(s) you wish to take out of this screen. In the screens menu, select split.
